USACE 2008 PROSPECT Training

The Proponent-Sponsored Engineer Corps Training (PROSPECT) Program
provides job-related training through technical, professional, managerial,
and leadership courses to meet the unique needs of USACE and other
government agencies. The course catalog for the PROSPECT Program, the
Purple Book, lists over 200 courses that cover a wide variety of topics
supporting the missions of USACE. Courses are available to federal, state or

Naval Civil Engineer Corps Officers School (CECOS)

During FY08, CECOS will offer 57 different courses with 260 individual
course offerings. CECOS Mobile Training Teams will conduct over 80% of
these offerings.

December 2008, to include HAZWOPPER, Hazardous Waste Management,
Hazardous Materials Transportation, and more.
National Conservation Training Center (NCTC)

NCTC staff continuously are working with field personnel, instructors, and
other conservation experts to develop and deliver high-quality and timely
training. While some courses have been developed specifically for Fish and
Wildlife Service employees, most are a good match for any conservation
professional. NCTC offers many other technical services for natural resource

RCRA-related online courses, seminars, webinars, podcasts, and videos are
posted throughout USEPA’s waste website. Introductory and advanced
courses are included for federal and state regulators, the regulated
community, organizations, associations, and consumers interested in
environmental laws, regulations and implementation.

management systems (EMS) can support facility programs.
NEPA Concepts: Module 1 & Module 2

Module 1 includes NEPA background, vision, intent, and marching orders.
Module 2 includes the background of the Council on Environmental Quality
(CEQ) regulations, public involvement, producing better decisions, and
tools and documents.

Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to: describe how
the BLM Screening Process is used to determine the level of NEPA analysis
and documentation for a proposed action; determine if proposed action is in
conformance with the land use plan; determine if existing NEPA analysis is
adequate for a new proposed action (DNA process); determine level and
type of public involvement appropriate for a proposed action.
2008 Renewable Energy Workshops

The Western North Carolina Renewable Energy Initiative (WNCREI) is an
Appalachian State University Energy Center project dedicated to helping
create a sustainable energy future for our region. WNCREI will host a 2008
workshop series to empower groups and individuals with the tools and
resources to pursue wind, solar, microhydro and alternative fuel
technologies for energy independence.
AWWA Webcast Programs

The American Water Works Association (AWWA) is offering a series of feebased
webcasts for 2008. About 90 minutes in length, each webcast
generally includes 3-4 leading experts presenting on key topics in the drinking
water industry followed by a question and answer session. Registration
generally opens four weeks prior to the scheduled broadcast.

Rally 2008: The National Land Conservation Conference

Annual Environmental Council of the States (ECOS) Meeting

ECOS is holding its annual fall general membership meeting. Workgroups
and forums will meet concurrently at the start of the conference so that
each committee can later meet without competition from the workgroups
and forums. This will allow for final ECOS passage of most resolutions
within committee meetings rather than during the final plenary session.
LEED 2.2 AP Test Prep Workshop: Becoming a LEED-Accredited Professional

The course will cover the six categories of the LEED 2.2 rating system.
Instructors will review the intent, requirements, issues and strategies
associated with each of the credits, focusing on the level of knowledge
needed to pass the exam. Participants will receive training on the integrated
project management and documentation processes fundamental to the
LEED program and will learn tips for working as LEED Accredited
Professionals in the field. The training series will conclude with an overview
of recommended study methods, exam-taking skills and practice questions
for the LEED 2.2 accreditation exam.
